With a careful winemaking process and proper aging, wines can last several years after it is released and continue to develop to the point of perfection. At Turiya, I keep a small amount of older vintage wines in the library to help with the assessment of the lifespan of the wine. This purposeful extended aging allows me to continue to bottle age these wines, tasting them during the process, and making valuable notes for future vintages. I invite you to add some of these rare wines to your collection, each on truly gets better and better. ~ Cheers! Angela
2012 Cabernet Franc, Amivida Vineyard
2012 Cabernet Franc, Amivida Vineyard
Make room for the Queen! The 2012 Cabernet Franc's gentle texture dances around in your mouth like silk. Soft, with a graceful elegance - qualities that reflect her royal lineage. Benevolently giving, without expectation. A true queen from the earth's spirit. The fruit tones are intertwined in adobe and balanced nicely with a slight hickory finish. Fabulously food friendly wine (what Queen doesn't enjoy a good feast?) with great aging potential. Long live the Queen!

A little extra:
Cabernet Franc is used in Bordeaux France as a minor blending grape and not often found bottled alone. It is used to enhance the flavors of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot but has an outstanding ability to enhance any table, alone or blended! It is known for its softer-than-Cab-Sauv texture and nuanced effects. The hearty grape can withstand and ripen in temperatures slightly cooler than it’s Bordeaux counterparts. In 2012 I found the perfect little vineyard growing just a few tons. Amivida Vineyard is located in Santa Margarita California, just on the other side of the San Luis Obispo. It get’s the maritime, foggy influence in the mornings and evenings which gave this vintage a slow, progressive ripening of flavors. Enjoy this special treat!
